Information Technology Equipment Have Conformity Assessment Requirements Updated and Consolidated by INMETRO

INMETRO updates and consolidates requirements for information technology equipment.

INMETRO, through Ordinance no. 304, published the update and consolidation of the Conformity Assessment requirements for Information Technology Equipment on Nov. 6, 2023.  

Products such as personal computers, notebooks, printers, monitors, servers and others are subject to such evaluation and suitability.    

The changes and adjustments include:

  • Inclusion of the electrical safety technical standard IEC 62368-1 as an alternative to IEC 60950-1
  • Update of electromagnetic compatibility technical standards from CISPR 22 and 24 to CISPR 32 and CISPR 35
  • Clarifications on the criteria for the formation of families, specifically on the cabinet
  • Change in electromagnetic compatibility tests and inclusion of the respective electrical safety tests in accordance with IEC 62368-1 for maintenance and recertification
  • Among others

Deadline for carrying out the program

The ordinances came into effect on Dec. 4, 2023, and products already certified will be evaluated for compliance with such requirements in the next stage of evaluation, such as maintenance and/or recertification.
