Battery Safety Testing
As a global leader in battery safety testing, we help battery product manufacturers gain fast, unrestricted access to the global market.
We not only test and certify batteries but also contribute to the development and international harmonization of industry safety and performance standards. For example, as a Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA) Authorized Test Laboratory (CATL), we can test and certify cell phone rechargeable battery products and systems to the CTIA Battery Certification Program.

Power Supply Test and Certification
Streamline your global market access for industrial power supplies with CB, CE and/or UL Mark certification. In response to the industry’s harmonization requests, we now offer an alternate path to certification for power supplies with IEC/UL/EN 61010-2-201, the Standard for Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control, and Laboratory Use.
Whether you are planning power supply production for U.S. markets or international markets, we will help you from start to finish with your compliance and certification needs.
Services for Components and Controls
We work with manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their suppliers to help them bring safer, smarter products to market. We offer a comprehensive set of services throughout the entire development cycle, providing you with single destination testing and advisory services. We work closely with key international regulatory agencies, code authorities and manufacturers on the development of consensus-based standards and services for emerging technologies within your industry.
We evaluate the suitability of controls and components such as relays, thermostats and switches for specific applications. We consider the performance and construction characteristics of the end product and how the component will be used in that product. Our services also address key business needs, such as supply chain management, quality assurance and global market access.
Using UL Certified components may help reduce costs and time to market. Risks are mitigated, since these components are tested to comply with applicable requirements.
Motor and Pump Certification Services
Our services include energy efficiency Verification, performance testing, a precertification review, or a full compliance assessment. You can take advantage of our bundled services to maximize efficiency. We can conduct one evaluation to certify your product for access to multiple countries.
Our go-to market services include:
- CB certificates
- Type certificates/test reports
- Safety certifications
- International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)-based insulation system evaluations
- ATEX and International Electrotechnical Commission Explosive (IECex)
- Certificates of Conformance (CoC)
Pumps
Irrigation, sewage, fountains, wells, swimming pools and spa applications, to name a few, rely on pumps. As pumps become increasingly complex regarding energy efficiency control in a wide use of applications, we help you innovate with confidence.
NSF/ANSI 50
In addition to UL’s extensive knowledge of international and UL safety standards, the UL Mark for NSF/ANSI 50 - 2015 Equipment for Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and other Recreational Water Facilities is an approved and accepted mark in all U.S. national and local markets with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
Our flexible Follow-Up Services program for NSF/ANSI 50 allows for a single inspection per year without a five-year recertification requirement for certified products. UL’s continuing certification process is focused on ensuring products continue to meet regulations. If the standard is revised, an impact assessment will be done on the revisions. If the revisions are found not to have a significant impact on the product(s), no further testing or evaluation will be required. If the revisions are found to have a significant impact on your products, a suitable timeline will be set and communicated to confirm compliance.
Motors
Motors, generators and electrical components – electronic controls, switches, protectors and TCOs – are at the core of many of the electrical products produced today. We provide a complete set of services for all your business needs, from appliance motors to industrial motors and generators.
